On September 28, Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata held a virtual meeting to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Consul General Mr. Zha Liyou, CPIM Politburo Member Md Salim, Former Chancellor NUEPA and Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi Kalyan Kumar Chakravarty, BJD Spokesperson, Chairman of Odisha State Housing Board Priyadarshi Mishra, Socio-Political Activist Chandra Kumar Bose, President of Parichay Foundation Rosalin Patasani Mishra, President of All India Overseas Chinese Association Chen Yaohua, Chief Monk Huirong of Chinese Mahabodhi Temple, representatives from Chinese Company in East India and staff members from Chinese Consulate General attended the event. Senior Vice President of BJD Dr. Patasani and Head of Cheena Bhavan, Visva Bharati Mr. Banerjee sent congratulatory videos.
Consul General Mr. Zha Liyou highlighted the year 2021 marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and introduced important achievements and major policies China made this year. As Covid-19 pandemic is still rampant around the world, China takes strict measures to bring it under control and conducts in-depth international anti-epidemic cooperation. Facing the severe challenges of the world economic downturn, China promotes the resumption of production in an orderly manner, and actively maintains the stability of global supply chain, which is conducive to world economic recovery. China holds high the banner of multilateralism, actively participates in global governance and international cooperation and advocates the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Consul General Zha Liyou congratulated India on its fast economic growth in the first half of this year and pointed out China and India, as two old civilizations and emerging economies, need to properly manage differences, increase mutual trust, strengthen people-to-people exchanges and economic cooperation, and firmly stick to the correct direction of China-India relations. He also introduced major work by Consulate General this year including providing timely assistance to local community to help fight against the pandemic during the second wave of Covid-19, acknowledged great support of East Indian friends and encouraged all to join hands to bring China-India relations back on the right track soon.
Mr. Chakravarty, Mr. Salim, Mr. Mishra and Mr. Bose and other friends congratulated the 72nd Chinese National Day and highly appreciated the work done by the Chinese Consulate General in promoting cooperation and exchanges between China and East India. They believed China and India are supposed to keep in mind the history of friendly exchanges for thousands of years and work together to overcome current difficulties in bilateral relations.
Representatives from local business, school and young students recalled their experiences of visiting China and interacting with Chinese people, and expressed willingness to take part in and promote education, cultural, business and sports exchanges between the two countries to ease misunderstanding and strengthen bond between people.
Representatives from Chinese companies and local Chinese community were proud of the great achievements of motherland and strongly believed rejuvenation of Chinese nation is doomed to become reality under leadership of the Communist Party of China. They would continue to work as bridge between China and India to make contributions to bilateral relations.
During the program, videos of wonderful dance performances Palace Banquet in Tang Dynasty and To Goddess Luoshen at Luoshui River from Henan Province were played, which embodied part of China’s profound culture and time-honored history and were well received by audience.
