To celebrate the 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and India, the Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata hosted the first Interactive Session with Business Leaders in East India on January 10. More than 60 delegates including the business leaders of major East India Chambers of Commerce such as Calcutta Chamber of Commerce (CCC), Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI), Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BNCCI), the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) Eastern Region, Confederation of Indian Industry(CII)Eastern Region, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry West Bengal State Council (FICCI-WBSC),relevant country’s Honorary Consuls, representatives of Chinese companies ,Indian Chinese entrepreneurs, as well as Arup Kumar Saha, Head of Branch Secretariat of Ministry of External Affairs, and Daniel Sim, Deputy Head of Post of Australian Consulate-General in Kolkata, attended the meeting.
Consul General Zha Liyou attended the meeting and delivered a keynote speech. He quoted President Xi Jinping's New Year's speech in 2020 to introduce China's main achievements in the past year, and used lively language to explain the main spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC, the Central Economic Work Conference, and China's experience and methods of precision poverty alleviation. He briefed the economic and trade cooperation between China and India, China's investment in East India, and the main economic and trade work of the Consulate General in the past year, highlighting the major domestic exhibitions such as China International Import Expo (CIIE), China International Fair for Trade in Services（CIFTIS）, China-South Asia Forum, China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), China Import and Export Fair(Canton Fair), and China-ASEAN Expo, encouraging East Indian businessmen actively uses the above platform to strengthen its ties with China. Mr. Zha also talked about his personal experience in how to deepen the relationship between the East Indian business community and China in combination with his work in the last year.
Participants spoke highly of Consul General Zha's speech and exchanged warmly with him. The conference played promotional videos of CIIE and CIFTIS. The Times of India reported on the conference.
