Consul General Zha Liyou Attends Annual Meeting of Silk Association of India

On 29 August, Consul General Mr Zha Liyou attended the 44th annual general meeting of the Silk Association of India (SAI) affiliated to the Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC) in Kolkata.BCC President Mr Sitaram Sharma, SAI President Mr Rajendra Kumar Kapoor, Joint Director General of Foreign Trade of Ministry of Commerce Mr Utpal Acharya, and dozens of SAI members were present.

Mr Zha delivered a speech and said with Sino-India relations under fast development, potential is huge for bilateral economic cooperation. He called on the West Bengal businessmen to seize the chance to promote their ties with Chinese enterprises, to which his office would provide due assistance. He also made clarifications on distorted reports on Hong Kong of India media copied from media of western countries, and urged the East Indian businessmen to maintain an objective view towards such reports and continue to support the healthy development of Sino-India relations.

Mr Sharma and Mr Kapoor briefed on Indian silk industry conditions, expressed high appreciation on the Chinese Consulate’s hard efforts in promoting bilateral economic ties, and expected to continue to work with the consulate to create new cooperative opportunities for enterprises of both countries.

Mr Zha was interviewed by local mainstream media and interacted with SAI members.
