Consul General Zha Liyou Visits East Asia Division, MEA

    On 24 January 2019, Consul General Zha Liyou paid a courtesy call on Mr. Amit Telang, Director of East Asia Division, Indian Ministry of External Affairs. Mr. Chen Binghuang, Counselor of Chinese Embassy in New Delhi and Mr. Prasana Shrivastava, Director of China Department, East Asia Division, Ministry of External Affairs were present.

    Consul General Zha Liyou said it's a great honor to be the fifth Chinese Consul General in Kolkata at such an important moment as President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi met four times last year to reach very important consensus on developing further the partnership between the two great nations, which has turned a new chapter in the bilateral ties. He would try his best to promote economic, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and East India with support from East Asia Division, MEA.

    Mr. Amit Telang congratulated Consul General Zha Liyou on assuming office, and spoke highly of relations between East India and China at present. He believed Consul General Zha Liyou would add impetus to bilateral relations with his rich experience, and East Asia Division would keep in close contact with Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata in this regard.
