On September 7, 2008, the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata was officially inaugurated. The re-establishment of the Consulate General after 46 years stands witness to the fervent will of both Indian and Chinese people to strengthen friendly bilateral communication and cooperation, realizing the long-term aspirations of local Chinese community and complying with the current all-round, rapid development of India-China relations.
The Consulate General is committed to working with friends from all walks of life who cherish and support the healthy development of India-China relationship, so as to push forward closer communication and cooperation between China and West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Chattisgarh and Jharkhand in various areas including politics, economics and trade, culture and education. We are also committed to improving our work so as to provide better service concerning commerce and consular affairs, enhancing people-to-people exchanges and consolidating understanding and mutual trust between the two peoples.
