Consul General in Kolkata Zha Liyou Meets with TOI Reporter

On May 24, Consul General Zha Liyou met with Jhimli Mukherjee, senior journalist of the Times of India.

Mr Zha introduced the progress of sub-national level exchanges between China and India. He noted that the media plays an important role in the exchanges between the two major civilizations of China and India. The Consulate General is willing to provide assistance in strengthening cooperation between Chinese media and Indian media and in telling the stories about cultural and people-to-people exchanges. He hoped that as a mainstream newspaper, Times of India will continue to provide its readers with objective and positive reports on China and China-India relations, and contribute to the improvement of mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Jhimli happily recalled her experiences in China and said that both India and China have profound historical and cultural backgrounds, and the two countries should enhance mutual understanding, strengthen cooperation, and work together for peace and development in Asia and the world. She will continue to pay close attention to and actively report on the development of China and India-China relations, to help more Indians understand China and promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
