Consul General Ma Zhanwu Meets the Durga Puja Organizing Committee for BJ Block

On 29 July 2018, Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, met at his residence with the Durga Puja Organizing Committee for BJ Block, Salt Lake City, Kolkata. Consul Wang Mei and Vice Consul Xie Chao were present.

The Committee gave a brief introduction on their visit to Yunnan Province, China, especially on their trip to the Cangyuan County, popularly known as the Bottle Gourd Town, and told Mr. Ma that the Committee had decided to build a bottle gourd in the pandal complex for their Durga Puja celebration in 2018.

In order to showcase Chinese culture in their pandal complex, the BJ Block Durga Puja Committee has also invited Chinese artists to put on Chinese cultural performances during the Durga Puja celebration.

Mr. Ma expressed his appreciation of the Committee’s decision to build a bottle gourd and to invite the Chinese artists to perform for the Durga Puja celebration, and said the Consulate has been committed to promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Eastern India and would do its best to assist in the relevant work by the Committee.

The two sides also discussed arrangements for a joint press briefing, performance program, and setting up Chinese snack booths for the Durga Puja celebration.
