Consul General Ma Zhanwu Meets CM of West Bengal, India

Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, met with Ms. Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal, India during the event held in Kolkata by the West Bengal State Government to commemorate the 157th birth anniversary of Rabindaranath Tagore on 9 May 2018. Vice Consul Xie Chao was present.

Mr. Ma told the CM that the Chinese side looked forward to her visit to China, and would work out the details of the visit with her office. Ms. Banerjee thanked Mr. Ma for the invitation, and said would keep in contact with the consulate.

Mr. Ma also expressed gratitude to Ms. Banerjee for the support the consulate has received from the West Bengal State Government and the CM herself for the forthcoming Chinese Higher Education Expo 2018. Ms. Banerjee said she was happy to learn that over 60 Chinese universities would come to the expo in West Bengal, and would send officials with the State Government to attend the inauguration, although she herself could not due to previous commitments.
