China-India Friendship Knowledge Contest Winners Visit China

Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata, met with the delegation of first prize winners of the Knowledge Contest on China-India Friendship and the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, on 19 April 2018 before their trip to China. Vice Consul Xie Chao, Vice Consul Shi Lijun and Consular Attache Liu Li were present.

Mr. Ma congratulated the first prize winners, and introduced to them China-India relations and exchanges and cooperation between China and Eastern India, as well as the schedule of their trip. He expected the delegation to further understand China’s history and current economic and social development through this visit, and help promote friendly exchanges between China and Eastern India.

From 20 to 27 April 2018, accompanied by two officers from Yunnan Foreign Affairs Service Center, the delegation traveled to Kunming, Xi’an and Beijing. They visited Kunming Foreign Affairs Office, Xi’an Foreign Affairs Office, Xi’an Jiaotong University and Communication University of China (located in Beijing), and had good interactions on China-India friendship and the two countries’ culture and history with the foreign affairs officers, teachers and students respectively. They have also been to such famous tour sites as the Yunnan Ethnic Minorities Village, the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Museum, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Tiananmen Square.

The delegation thanked the Consulate for facilitating their visit and said they had a very impressive trip, which enriched their knowledge of the development and culture of China and gave them a better understanding of the Chinese people. They also said that India and China are important neighbors to each other, and should have good relations and build better partnership between them. They have also said that they have great respect for China and will continue to support India-China friendship and their exchanges and cooperation, and they will share what they learned through the trip with their friends, colleagues and family members, and will continue to follow and support the developments in the relationship between the two great nations in the future.

The Chinese Consulate General Kolkata hosted the Knowledge Contest on China-India Friendship and the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China from October to November 2017, with nearly one thousand participants. After the Contest ended, the Consulate held five awarding ceremonies successively in the five states covered by the consulate in Kolkata, and invited 10 first-prize winners to visit China. The delegation included teachers and students and entrepreneurs. The eldest member is 45 years old, and the youngest is only 14.
