Consul General Ma Zhanwu Meets President of Bharat Chamber of Commerce

On 27 March 2017, Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, met at his residence with Mr. Sitaram Sharma, President of Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC). Consul Li Suyun and Ms. Keka Sarma, Secretary General of BCC, were present.

Mr. Sharma said he has recently taken over as President of BCC,one of the oldest, largest and leading chambers of commerce in Kolkata,serving trade and industry for more than 118 years now. BCC has facilitated quite a lot interactions between West Bengal and China, and it would like to work with the Chinese Consulate more closely to deepen the bilateral economic and trade relations.

Consul Ma briefed Mr. Sharma on the latest developments in China-India relationship, especially on economic and trade ties, hoping the chambers of commerce from both sides can grasp the new opportunities and play greater roles in promoting the cooperation between West Bengal and China. He also promised that the Chinese Consulate stands ready to assist as need be.

Mr. Sharma invited Consul Ma to address an interactive session organized by BCC in the coming weeks and the latter thanked him for the invitation and said he would be happy to share his thoughts with BCC members.
