Consul General Ma Zhanwu Meets CM of Jharkhand, India

Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, met with Mr. Raghubar Das, Chief Minister of Jharkhand, at Ranchi, India on the afternoon of 12 January 2018. Ms. Raj Bala Verma, Chief Secretary of the State Government, and Dr. Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Secretary of the Department of Industries, Mines and Geology, were present.


Mr. Ma told Chief Minister Das that he was happy to visit Jharkhand again and attend Skill Summit 2018. He congratulated the Chief Minister on the successful summit and the fast economic development of the State.

Mr. Ma mentioned that in May 2016, the delegation from Shanxi Province, China visited Jharkhand and had good interactions with their counterparts here. Both sides agreed to establish a sister relationship between this state and the Chinese province, and conduct better economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation. The Shanxi delegation also invited the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary to visit China. The Chinese Consulate stands ready to facilitate the visit of CM to China and interactions between Jharkhand and the related provinces in China.

Mr. Das thanked the Consul General for attending the summit and his congratulations, and said that the State Government attached importance to exchanges and cooperation with China. He would give consideration to a visit to China and will keep in touch with the Chinese Consulate regarding this trip.

The two sides also discussed areas of possible cooperation and some specific projects. 

Earlier in the day, Mr. Ma attended Skill Summit 2018 of Jharkhand and then gave interviews to the TV channels of CNBC, NEWS 18, and ZEE TV on relations between China and Jharkhand.

Consuls Li Suyun and Shao Yujin were present at the above meeting and summit.
