Consul General Ma Zhanwu Attends High School Annual Day in India

Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata, attended the Annual Day of St. Lawrence High School in West Bengal, India on 16 December 2017. Consul Zhang Jing went with him.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ma told the audience that he highly appreciated the fact that St. Lawrence High School had had exchanges with schools in China over the years and had kept in contact with the Consulate. He congratulated the school on its progress accomplishments made over the past year, especially the Peace and Sports Award it was given in Monaco a few days before. He said that he was glad to know the achievements as reported by Rev. Father Sebastian James S.J., Principal of the school, because, as he hoped and believed, the students of this school would contribute to friendly ties between China and India and peace and development of the world, as countries in the world are more and more interdependent and China-India relations are becoming increasingly more important.

The Consul General told the faculty and students that his Consulate would work for enhanced exchanges and cooperation between China and Eastern India in 2018, and would work with St. Lawrence High School in the latter’s exchanges with Chinese schools, and explore possibility to have joint programs.

Father Sebastian James S.J. thanked Mr. Ma for his fourth visit to the campus, expressed his appreciation of the Consul General’s message, and promised to keep in contact with the consulate for further exchanges with Chinese schools in the coming year.
