Consul General Ma Zhanwu Attends Inauguration of Seminar at IISWBM

On 14 December 2017, Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, attended as Chief Guest the inauguration of the International Seminar on Energy Security, Exportability, Efficiency and Conservation, which was held at the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM). About one hundred guests, teachers and students were present, including Dr. Arun Jhaveri, former Senior Energy Adviser to the U.S. Department of Energy; Dr. Soma Bandyopadhyay, Director of IISWBM.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ma gave an introduction of China’s goal of building a Beautiful China, and his country’s relevant policies on energy and environment protection, saying that in its modernization drive in the new era, China attaches great importance to developing ecological civilization, promoting green development, solving prominent environmental problems, intensifying the protection of the ecosystems, and reforming the regulation system. He also said that China had achieved a great deal of progress over the past five years with its change of the philosophy and adoption of strict measures.

    

He indicated that China and India as well as all other countries should work together in the area of environment protection to build a beautiful world.
