Consul General Ma Zhanwu Meets Indian MP Dinesh Trivedi

On 12 November 2017, Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kolkata, met with Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, Member of Lok Sabha of the Indian Parliament, representing Barrackpore, West Bengal, who also served as Union Minister of Railways. Mrs. Minal Trivedi and Consul Li Suyun and Ms Chen Fei were present.

Consul General Ma briefed the MP on the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the major achievements that China made over the past five years. He pointed out that the Congress had established Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guideline for the CPC, and set up the goal of securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and then embarking on a journey to fully build a modern socialist China. He stressed that China and India, the two biggest developing countries, share lots of common interests which far outweigh their differences. The two sides should further strengthen exchanges and cooperation and work hand in hand for mutual benefit and for building a community with a shared future for the mankind.

Mr. Trivedi thanked Mr. Ma for the briefing, and said that India and China are two great nations and should work together to tackle the many problems faced by the two countries and the whole world.
