Consul General Ma Zhanwu Meets Winners of Best Pandals Competition from India

Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, met at his residence with winners of the Best Durga Puja Pandals Competition from Kolkata, West Bengal, India on 29 October 2017. He congratulated them on winning the top prizes, asked about the specifics of their respective pandals and wished them a pleasant and successful trip to China from 5 to 12 November 2017. Consul Zhang Jing and Ms. Chen Fei were present at the meeting.

Consul General Ma also briefed the group on the developments in China, especially the newly concluded 19th National Congress of Communist Party of China(CPC), saying that the Congress has initiated the journey by the CPC and the Chinese people towards realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation. And the Congress has drawn up a blueprint of completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects by 2020, basically realizing socialist modernization by 2035, andturning China into a great and modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful by the middle of the 21st century. The congress has concluded that China has now entered a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and formulated the basic policies in various fields.

At present, the whole party and the Chinese people are ready for new endeavors to make their life better and better under the strong leadership of CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core.

Mr. Ma also gave examples to explain the progress in China's domestic developments and the CPC's innovation in theory and practice. He said the CPC and Chinese people are increasingly confident about the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and added that China's success has offered a new option for other countries which want to speed up their development while preserving their independence; and it offers Chinese wisdom and a Chinese approach to solving the problems facing mankind.

He continued to say that China attaches great importance to its relations with India and he hoped that the two sides could join hands to enhance mutual trust and friendly exchanges and cooperation so as to bring about sound and stable development of thebilateral ties. He also expressed that hope that the group can better understand China through the visit and work to promote friendly interactions between China and India in the future.

The group thanked Mr. Ma for his brief and clear explanation of the 19th CPC National Congress, saying it helped them understand China better. They also expressed appreciation at the Consulate's sponsoring the Best Pandals Competition, and said they very much looked forward to the trip to China, which would give them a chance to see China and work to further develop people-to-people exchanges between the two great countries.
