Acting Consul General Cai Zhifeng Meets St. Joseph's School Delegation

On 23 June 2017, Mr. Cai Zhifeng, Acting Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, met at the Consulate with a group of teachers and students from St. Joseph’s School, Darjeeling, West Bengal, India led by Rector Shajumon C. K. Sj, which will visit China soon. Consuls Li Suyun, Zhang Jing and Consular Attache Chen Ankai were present.

Mr. Cai said the exchanges between the young students of China and India are an important part of the mutual relationship. He welcomed the delegation’s visit to Yunnan Province and Beijing in the late June, where they would have exchanges and interactions with the students from Kunming No. 12 Middle School and The Middle School Affiliated to University of International Business and Economics. He believed that the delegation could have a better understanding of China through the visit and add new vitality to China-India relations.

Rector Shajumon C. K. Sj appreciated the arrangement made for their visit by the consulate. He said this would be the first trip to China by a group from his school and they looked forward to the visit. He hoped to develop the cooperation on students exchanges with the Chinese schools.

St Joseph’s School was founded by the Society of Jesus in the year 1888. The school has 1200 students from 8 different countries and 16 different states of India. It is ranked the 3rd best boys’ boarding school in India by Education Rating Agency in 2016.
