Consul General Ma Zhanwu Visits Indian Schools at Darjeeling

Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, visited St. Joseph's School and St. Paul's School at Darjeeling, West Bengal, India on 12 April 2017, to discuss China-India educational exchanges. Consuls Li Suyun, Zhang Jing, Chen Yongliang went along.

Father Shajumon C.K. Sj, Rector of St. Joseph's School, and Reverend Joy Halder, Rector of St. Paul's School, gave a briefing respectively to Mr. Ma on the history and the relevant developments of the schools, expressing the wish to conduct exchanges with schools in China and enroll Chinese students in their schools.

Expressing his admiration at the accomplishments of the two schools, Mr. Ma agreed that it would be mutually beneficial for them to have exchanges with Chinese schools, and he invited the teachers and students here to visit China in the coming months. He also stated that he would be happy to see more Chinese students studying here at these two top ranking schools.

And the two rectors also showed Mr. Ma and his colleagues around the campuses, where the Consul General interacted with the teachers and students.

 

Those present from St. Joseph's School included Mr. D. N. Pradhan, Senior School Headmaster, and Mr. Andre Lefevre, Junior School Headmaster. And those from St. Paul's School were Mrs. Suvetra Halder,School Counsellor; Mr. Prakosh Agarwal, Estate Manager; Mr. Angelo Charles Norman Alva, Primary Wing Head, and Mrs. Diana Alva; Mr. Mahesh Kharga, House Master; and Mr. Michael Dutta, House Master.
