Consul General Ma Zhanwu Meets Minister of West Bengal, India

Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, met with Mr. Sadhan Pande, Minister of Consumer Affairs and Minister of Self Help Group and Self Employment of the State Government of West Bengal, India to exchange views on promoting the relations between West Bengal and China. Deputy Consul General Cai Zhifeng, Consul Li Suyun, and Mrs. Supti Pande were present.

Consul General Ma thanked Mr. Pande for attending the functions held by the Chinese Consulate and giving support for the state to develop relations with China. He said that along with growing China-India relations and exchanges and cooperation in various areas, the relations between China and West Bengal, which date back to ancient times, have shown great potentials in the new era. The Chinese Consulate would like to work with the West Bengal State Government to further promote interactions and cooperation between the State and the provinces of China in areas of business and trade, culture, education, etc. Consul General Ma invited Mr. Pande to visit China at his convenience.

Mr. Pande said that he has been following major developments in China though he had not been there. He hopes the interactions and cooperation between West Bengal and China will grow continuously. He also shared with the Consul General that he has contributed to organization of quite a few charity projects to provide training and schooling for poor women and children, and he would welcome collaboration with the Chinese Consulate on some of these activities. Mr. Ma said that the Chinese Consulate would like to join hands with the State Government as well as NGOs in this endeavor and they would keep in touch on that.
