Consul General Ma Zhanwu Meets JS (GEM) at India's MEA
Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, met with Mr. S. K. Verma, Joint Secretary, GEM at India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). Consul Li Suyun, Consular Attache Liu Li, and Mr. Aniruddha Das, Under Secretary with GEM of MEA, were present.
Consul General Ma described to the Joint Secretary the Chinese side's need for land that will be used for building the chancery complex of the Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata, and hoped MEA would more actively provide support and facilitation so that the Consulate could have more decent working conditions with its own office buildings.
Mr. Verma welcomed Mr. Ma to MEA, gave an account of the types of land in Kolkata that is owned by the Indian Government, and explained the policies on construction of chanceries by foreign diplomatic offices. He said that he looked forward to an early construction of the Chinese Consulate complex, and the Indian side would provide facilitation accordingly.
