Consul General Ma Zhanwu Signs Agreement with Vice Chancellor of India's CUJ

Mr. Ma Zhanwu, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Kolkata, met with Prof. Nand Kumar Yadav, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ), and Dr. Shreya Bhattacharji, Dean of the School of Languages of CUJ, on 29 February 2016. Deputy Consul General Zhou Maoyi, Consul Zhang Jing, and Consular Attache Chen Ankai were present.

Mr. Ma shared the good news with his guests that Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) has already approved of sending a volunteer Chinese teacher to CUJ, who is set to come to India soon. Mr. Ma then gave a briefing about high-level visits between Shanxi and Jharkhand in the near future.

Vice Chancellor Yadav thanked Mr. Ma and the Consulate for the progress. He said CUJ is eagerly waiting for the Chinese teacher and willing to promote China-India cultural and educational exchanges by joining hands with the Chinese Consulate.

The two sides also discussed possibilities to hold a Chinese language competition, Chinese film festival and the “Chinese Day” at CUJ, and to select outstanding students from CUJ to study in China.

Subsequently, Mr. Ma, authorized by Hanban, signed the Agreement on Provision of Chinese Language Teachers between Hanban, China and Central University of Jharkhand, India with Vice Chancellor Yadav.
