Webinar held for Interaction between Chinese Consul General and East Indian Business Community

On January 18, the Chinese Consulate General in Kolkata and the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) jointly held the “Webinarfor Interaction between Chinese Consul General and East Indian Business Community". Mr. Zha Liyou, the Chinese Consul General attended the meeting and delivered a speech and communicated with the participants. 40 representatives from local companies, government departments, research institutions and chambers joined the webinar. Dr. Yang Xuhong, Vice President of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Mumbai Branch was invited to attend and speak at the event. A promotional video of Yunnan Province was also played at the meeting.



Consul General Zha briefed the participants on the overall situation of China-India economic and trade cooperation in 2021 and the progress of bilateral cooperation in his consular area. He encouraged Indian companies to actively adjust, adapt to the environment, overcome difficulties, take the initiative, and maintain business relations with their Chinese partners. Therefore, Indian companies could firmly grasp the development trend of Chinese market, and better prepared for the normal exchanges after the end of the epidemic. Dr. Yang introduced the key areas and prospects of cooperation between Chinese and Indian enterprises. The two sides also exchanged views on business opportunities in the fields proposed by the participants such as farm produce, new energy, supply chain and cooperation between commerce chambers.


The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a national chamber headquartered in Kolkatawith a 189-year history and broad influence. The purpose of the webinar is to brief China’s latest development achievements to business community in the consular districts, eliminate the influence of false information, and build confidence for local business community in doing business with China, and promote China-India economic and trade cooperation.
