On March 10, 2009, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to China Yashar Tofiqi Aliyev.

Li said with the joint efforts of both sides, China-Azerbaijan friendly cooperative relations have always maintained a momentum of healthy, stable development. There exists no political issue in bilateral relations. China is ready to carry out joint research with Azerbaijan on new measures to promote bilateral friendly cooperative relations.

Aliyev spoke highly of the development of bilateral relations. According to Azerbaijan’s statistics, bilateral trade reached 1 billion U.S. dollars in 2008, which is a forceful example of the rapid development of bilateral relations. Azerbaijan is ready to continuously expand and deepen pragmatic cooperation with China in all areas.
