Wang Yi: China's growth is unstoppable
2019/11/23

On November 23 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Stef Blok of the Netherlands on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting and talked about China's principled position on China-US trade talks.

Wang Yi noted that the US has become the biggest destabilizing element in the world given its practice of unilateralism and protectionism that undermines multilateralism and the multilateral trading system. Out of political agenda, the US has used its state power to oppress Chinese companies that operate normally and pinned false accusations on them, which is simply bullying. American politicians have smeared China wherever they went with no evidence at all. That's not what a major country is supposed to do, and it undermines the reputation of the US. Based on its domestic law, the US has interfered in China's internal affairs and tried to damage our "one country, two systems" principle and the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong, which violates the UN Charter and the basic norms governing international relations. As the only super power in the world, the US is expected to shoulder due responsibilities, observe rules and fulfill its international obligations.

Wang Yi stressed that China's growth is a sure trend, and it will not be stopped by any forces. For the US, zero-sum games will take it nowhere, while conducting mutually beneficial cooperation with China is the right way forward.
