Wang Yi Meets with Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa of Pakistan

On September 8, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa of Pakistan in Islamabad.

Wang Yi expressed, China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. The special friendship between the two countries has withstood the test of changeable international situations and stands as an unbreakable solid rock. No matter how the international and regional situation may evolve, the Chinese side will firmly support the Pakistani side in safeguarding sovereignty, dignity and territorial integrity, firmly support the Pakistani government in achieving national stability, development and prosperity, and firmly support Pakistan in playing a greater constructive role in regional and international affairs.

Wang Yi pointed out, the Pakistani military has always been the mainstay of China-Pakistan relations. China-Pakistan military relations are an important component of China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, and also a symbol of the high-level political and strategic mutual trust between the two countries. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) touches upon the long-term development of Pakistan. The Pakistani military has made unremitting efforts in the CPEC's construction, especially in its security, and the Chinese side speaks highly of that. The Chinese sides welcomes and supports the improvement of the Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, and will actively facilitate Afghanistan's peace and reconciliation process.

Qamar Javed Bajwa said, China is the most important stable and constructive force in global landscape. As the current regional and international situation is undergoing complex changes, the Pakistani side thanks the Chinese side for giving strong support to Pakistan in this key period. It is believed that with the help of the Chinese side, the Pakistani side can surely overcome difficulties and challenges, and achieve a greater progress. The Pakistani side is devoted to promoting Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, and will continue to support the Chinese side in issues concerning its core interests. The Pakistani side sees the CPEC's construction as an important opportunity for its development, and will work with the Chinese side to make all-out efforts to advance cooperation in various fields. The Pakistani side will strive to improve its relations with Afghanistan and commit to realizing peace and stability in Afghanistan. It is hoped that the Chinese side will also continue to play an important role in this regard.
