Wang Yi Meets with Mozambican Foreign Minister Veronica Macamo

On November 28, 2021 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Mozambican Foreign Minister Veronica Macamo who is to attend the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Dakar.

Wang Yi said that Mozambique is China's important cooperation partner in Africa. The two countries have deepened political mutual trust and achieved fruitful outcomes of all-round cooperation in recent years. The two peoples have stood together and helped each other fight against the pandemic, further elevating the traditional friendship. China attaches great importance to the development of China-Mozambique relations. China is ready to take the important consensus between the two heads of state as guidance and the FOCAC conference as an opportunity to advance greater progress in the China-Mozambique comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership.

Wang Yi said that the economic and trade cooperation between the two countries continues to develop under the concerted efforts of both sides despite the pandemic. China is willing to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with Mozambique in infrastructure, agriculture, energy and other fields and help Mozambique speed up its development within the frameworks of the Belt and Road cooperation, the FOCAC and the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Macamo extended her warm congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and her willingness to strengthen connections between political parties and exchanges on state governance. She said that Mozambique and China enjoy deep traditional friendship and the two countries always stand firm with each other. The Mozambican people are greatly appreciative of China's assistance in its independence. China's support has reinforced Mozambique's confidence in its future development. Mozambique strongly abides by the one-China principle and firmly supports China in safeguarding its core interests. The Mozambican side is willing to enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and unite and cooperate with China in international affairs.

The two sides said that the two countries will work together to make the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC a great success and inject new impetus to China-Africa cooperation.
